The Bowen Therapy
The EMMETT Technique
What is Bowen Therapy?
The Bowen Therapy was developed in Australia by Thomas Bowen (1916 to 1982). He intuitively began working with this gentle technique discovering that certain moves on the body helped recovery from many conditions.
Bowen Therapy it is an effective, gentle remedial, soft tissue therapy that involves light, gentle and very precise moves. The moves are made over muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves, triggering the body's own healing mechanisms. Instead of treating a targeted area, Bowen adresses the body as a whole.
Some clients experience immediate relief and instant changes, while for others it can take longer. It is possible you may feel cold, or warm, perhaps a tingling sensation - however, you may feel nothing at all. Bowen therapy triggers the release of toxins that many times can be felt as an emotional or physical release. It is encouraged to embrace and wait for this period to pass, usually after a few days.
In most circumstances, clients feel the benefits from their Bowen treatment in the days that follow, as their body makes the needed adjustments.
What is the EMMETT Technique?
The EMMETT Technique is an amazingly effective, gentle, and safe muscle release therapy. It is used to address pain and discomfort, improve body movement, restore a positive emotional state and improve the quality of life.
During the session you will be assessed for range on movement and pain. Treatment involves the application of light finger pressure at specific points in the body for a couple of seconds. Sometimes there are small moves done over the skin that are repeated in sequences of 3, so that the brain understand the message and does the necessary corrections to release tension and pain. Results are often immediate.
EMMETT short course - one day workshop
Short one day courses are also available for professionals or non-professionals to treat themselves, family, friends and animals. These are also frequently attended by therapists as a cost effective way of being introduced to the EMMETT Technique before signing up to the Practitioner Courses.
